Lighthouse: An Immersive Drinking Musical ran Off-Broadway at the SoHo Playhouse July 7, 2023 - September 30, 2023 after a sold-out run at the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
This critically acclaimed Irish-American musical comedy written and composed by Emmy® winner Jacki Thrapp with additional material by charting composer Billy Recce pays tribute to the most important thing that got New York City through the coronavirus pandemic: alcohol. The laugh out loud comedy follows the journey of a female bar owner and her customers as they try to find light in the dark of the pandemic. It is inspired by a handful of bars that stayed open in NYC during 2020 including the iconic Bar Nine.
The musical was listed as one of the top Off-Broadway shows of the summer on Show Score and made TDF’s list of “14 Shows To See Beyond Broadway In July” on top of the “Must See” list by the Edinburgh Evening News.
The Scotsman praises the “rowdy and rousing” musical full of original drinking songs, Irish step dancing and FREE SHOTS.
“There’s certainly an Irish energy to songs like ‘Love Starts With a Pint’ and a real lets-put-on-a-show-right-here energy and wit to the whole enterprise. The interactive element isn’t confined to the free shots the cast hand out - if you sit in the front row you might be pulled up on stage to play background bar patrons,” critic Rory Ford wrote in the Scotsman.
In Scotland’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival, this musical was honored as “Emerging Talent” in the program, praised as “comedic genius” by the UK’s Moreish TV and applauded for its “Broadway-caliber singers” by The Dramatist Magazine.

Jacklyn Thrapp is the executive producer of Shelf Life on Amazon Prime.
In late August of 2020, Jacklyn Thrapp approached comedian Gianmarco Soresi about collaborating after seeing him continue to perform stand-up comedy in parks, rooftops and sidewalks - despite all comedy venues being closed in NYC. The duo discussed a potential stand-up comedy special focused on the pandemic. During the meeting, Gianmarco Soresi pitched a set plus a mini documentary at the start to show the world just how different the comedy scene in NYC is during the pandemic.
In the coming weeks they built a team of industry professionals, including the director Emmy winner Andy Buck and producer Lindsay-Elizabeth Hand, to start developing a safe and entertaining film.
The team was up against a wide range of challenges including a global pandemic that shut down all NYC venues, potential bad weather during outdoor filming of the special, a maximum audience size of 25 people and a potential second wave of the virus.
Yet, film jumped through ever single hurdle and debuted to rave reviews from both local and national press.
NPR called Shelf Life a “historical document” and promoted the film as a top “2020 Comedy Special Recommendation” with Amazon Prime listing it at the top of the stand-up comedy searches in November 2020.
HANUKKAH HAUNTING MAKES SECOND ROUND OF THE AUSTIN FILM FESTIVAL
In 2020, Jacki Thrapp’s script for Hanukkah Haunting made the second round in the prestigious Austin Film Festival’s “Fiction Podcast” script competition. It’s the TOP screenwriting festival in the world.
According to StudioBinder, the Austin Film Festival receives more script submissions than any other screenplay competition in the WORLD. In 2020, Hanukkah Haunting beat out nearly 10,540 scripts to make the second round.
GOOD MORNING NEW YORK: A NEW MUSICAL
Jacki Thrapp debuted “Good Morning New York” Off-Broadway at The Players Theatre in 2020. Her show was picked for a residency out of 100+ other candidates.
This musical puts a spotlight on the behind the scenes culture of local newsrooms. The show ran from January 2020 - February 2020 and was the last Off-Broadway musical to close on time ahead of the coronavirus pandemic.
The musical is inspired by Jacki Thrapp’s time working at PIX11 in New York City.
